This is the part of the site where I will post unorganized content relating to telecommunications, mainly focused around the Verizon/GTE MLK switch site I am close to.
This is a Verizon telephone switch site, also known as a central office. There are a handful of switch sites in my city, all being currently owned by Verizon.
This switch, among the few others once belonged to General Telephone & Electronics (GTE for short), which was one of the predecessor companies to Verizon.
This is one of a handful of GTE-branded manhole covers near the former GTE MLK switch site. There are multiple on the side of the street the switch site is on.
The telephone manhole covers on the other street are generic.
The Verizon MLK switch building by the side parking lot.
Ditto, but pointing at a different angle.
The Veeder-Root overfill alarm on the other side of the building, used to indicate overfills in fuel systems. These are essentially just an Edwards Adaptahorn and beacon
flush-mounted onto a box.
A Pacific Bell (PacBell) manhole cover in close proximity to the Lakewood Mall. My first sighting of any actual Bell stuff.
